The author of this opinion, Andrew McCarthy, argues that “Islamophobia” does not exist in order to justify the racism and Islamophobic words and actions by members of the Republican Party. He goes on to say that “Islamophobia is a “canard” and a manufactured issue by the “Muslim brotherhood”
McCarthy who is a contributing editor at the National review and a fellow at the National Review Institute peddles a dangerous denial of anti-Muslim racism and in doing so he encourages other racists to do the same. Ultimately such arguments will only cause Islamophobia and racism to flourish in the US.
