The writer of this elaborated piece in Foreign Affairs, Michael Singh, argues that the Abraham accords that normalized and established ties last year between Israel, Bahrain, UAE, Morocco and Sudan should be a prelude to a much bigger military and economic alliance between these Arab countries and Israel. This alliance main objective would be to confront Iran. This kind of thinking is based on the assumption that Israel is a normal country in the Arab world, when in fact it’s not. Israel occupies Palestine and the Palestinian people. It continues to treat them violently. Recent Amnesty International report described Israel as an “Apartheid State” for its systematic discrimination, house demolition and expulsion of Palestinians. The Abraham accords were signed with Arab regimes who stand accused of their own gross human rights violations.
