Ed Durr who became New Jersey state senator after defeating its longest serving state senate president, was known to harbor anti-Arab and anti-Muslim views. After his upset victory, Durr was reported to have made overtures and expressed regrets for his past anti-Muslim statements to the Arab and Muslim communities in New Jersey. While this is a welcomed development, it remains to be seen if Mr. Durr policies and voting record will reflect his departure from his Islamophobic views.
