US Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin promoted Navy chaplain CAPT Carey Cash to be the Navy’s new Deputy Chief of Chaplains, the second highest ranking chaplain in the US Navy propelling him to the rank of Rear Admiral Lower Half despite his known Islamophobic views and statements.
Carey has long been known as a “Christian Nationalist” who has made public statements stating his goal of remaking the US military into a Christian fundamentalist organization. In his 2003 book about his deployment in Iraq, Carey’s extremist negative views of Islam were loud and clear. He writes: “Sadly, grace is often absent in Islam, which is based upon binding religious law, requiring strenuous adherence to every tenet of the ‘Five Pillars of Allah”
The US military is a very large and racially and religiously very diverse organization. Men with Carey’s extremist views should be dismissed not promoted. Read more from the source, the Daily Kos
