This blog by Joshua Washington, the Director of the Institute for Black Solidarity with Israel (IBSI) is arguing that US police departments can actually learn from training with Israeli police during visits to Israel. Mr. Washington says that US police officers can learn “de-escalation “skills from Israeli police and that “Israeli police are taught to shoot for non-vital organs when engaging with dangerous combatants.” Mr. Washington went on to accuse critics of Israel and police training program as “anti-Semitic.”
It’s well documented by Israeli and international media that the Israeli police, as well as its army, often shoot to kill unarmed Palestinians who simply might be walking down the street or sitting in their own homes. As such, If American police departments were to listen to Mr. Washington’s advice, and adopt the Israeli “skills”, more and more American citizens would be killed at the hands of police.
