In this Arabic opinion article published at Al Hurra website titled “Why am I bias against Palestine” which in reality should be titled “how did I become a Zionist”, Hussain Abdul-Hussain, justifies his support for Israel based on his “Shia family” upbringing that imbued him with anti-Arab, anti-Muslim and anti-Palestinian sentiments according to him. He then said he moved on and later flirted with Arab nationalism in his younger years only to find his calling in supporting Israel. He for example accuses Palestinians of “committing massacres” in the Arab world or that Israel is the only democracy in the region. What Abdul-Hussain doesn’t say in his opinion piece is that he has become a Zionist because it benefits him as an employee of a pro-Israel Zionist organization, The Foundation for Defense of Democracies (FDD).
