Media Research Project

“The primary objective of the ADC-RI Media Research Project is to research, track, and document anti-Arab and Islamophobic bias in the media, public discourse, and from public officials. This tracking project will serve as a resource tool which will highlight the prevalence of bias and bigotry. The project will expose xenophobia and hatred that target minorities in the U.S., particularly Arab and Muslim Americans.
The project will also celebrate achievements of Arabs and Muslims from around the world.”

Hate Watch: Tablet Magazine’s Support for Ethnic Cleansing

by ADC Team

Imagine if the Ku Klux Klan had an online magazine that constantly accused Black civil rights organizations, such as the NAACP, of “anti-white racism” and being hypersensitive to any perceived slight against white Americans — but this magazine willfully engaged in the most hateful prejudice against others, especially Black Americans.

Now you have a sense of Tablet magazine, a self-styled “online outlet about Jewish life and identity.”

Tablet is an ultra-Zionist Jewish American platform that makes Bari Weiss’s The Free Press look like a bastion of high-minded liberalism.

The publication publishes screeds by Zionists accusing pro-Palestine online influencers of a “social media pogrom” and people concerned about detained Palestinian children of a blood libel against Jews, then turns around to publish hateful articles that pinpoint the Muslim faith of an ACLU official to demonize him and call for the ethnic cleansing of Palestinians from Gaza. (The irony of accusing others of prejudice when you vomit blatant hate is lost on them. But it’s a common reality: Zionists claim to be victims of antisemitism all the time while they spew the most bigoted attacks against Palestinians.)

The latter articles were both written by Tablet’s editor-at-large Liel Liebovitz. In “Their Time is Up,”  Liebovitz wrote that “hate, too, is a Jewish virtue,” and cited the Biblical destruction of the Haman people by the ancient Israelites as precedent for the ethnic cleansing of all Palestinians from Gaza. “We, too, are fighting millions of little Hamans, murderous marauders who will grow emboldened the more we offer them mercy.”

Doubling down on religiously demented calls for inhumane devastation, Liebovitz (who unironically thinks it’s Palestinians who need to be de-radicalized) added that while there may be innocents in Gaza, “they should no more redeem Gaza’s genocidal enterprise than the hypothetical 10 good men of Sodom and Gomorrah could the cities of the plain.”

Liebovitz is not the only Zionist fan of Kahanism, ideas rooted in the late Rabbi Meir Kahane, who called for the ethnic cleansing of all Palestinians, including Arab citizens, from the river to the sea.

Neo-con Lee Smith, who, after the 2020 election, wrote numerous pieces for Tablet parroting Trump’s stolen election lie, has similarly written in the magazine’s pages that “the Gazans have to go, they can try to start again somewhere else.” Referring to Palestinians as “a tribe of feral children,” Smith added that they would be “lucky to lose only territory and not have their legend and language permanently deleted from the book of the living.”
